EDINBURG, Texas (AP) Ian Baker scored a career-high 36 points, Braxton Huggins pumped in 23 more and New Mexico State held on Saturday night for 107-101 win over Texas-Rio Grande Valley.
New Mexico State (23-4, 9-2 Western Athletic Conference) pulled away in the second half with a 7-0 spurt that included a 3-pointer and a layup from Baker and made it 92-83 with just over eight minutes to play. The Aggies led the rest of the way but UT-Rio Grande Valley kept the margin at single digits.
Baker was 11 for 18 from the field with three 3-pointers and hit all but two of his 13 free-throw attempts. The Aggies shot 55 percent from the field and finished with the most points in a game since 2012 in a 115-73 win over Hawaii.
